Daily Picture: Painted Turtle Found in the Back Yard.
This morning as I walked around opening the blinds I looked out the kitchen window to see something walking across the back yard. After watching it for a second I noticed it was a Turtle! I called for the boys who have learned to come RUNNING when dad says check this out. We went out back and sure enough there was a painted Turtle in my FENCED backyard. It must have found a way under the fence, but he was along way from wetlands. With all the rain I have been seeing turtles all over the place. The boys and I caught him and placed him in the bucket until we could walk the 1/4 mile to the pond and wooded area. Once we got him there he seemed thrilled to jump into the pond and chase some minnows. For living in a cookie cutter subdivision we actually see a lot of wild life. Song Birds, Swallows, Robins, HAWKS, Coyotes, Deer, Frogs, Rabbits, Toads, Turtles, Owls, Bats… I saw a hawk take out a small bird between the houses… BAM! a streak and floating fluff…
The Incredible Hulk
Yesterday two of my Brother In Laws and I went to see the Incredible Hulk at the First AM showing. We had a great time and the movie was very entertaining. I actually liked how they pulled the mythology from the comics and the TV show giving a general feel for the origins while making their own story. The HULK fights were spectacular and when he yelled “HULK SMASH” that was great… If you are a geek like me I would recommend watching the movie. Lots of mindless entertainment and pretty darn good acting.
Swim Team
7yo is having a blast on the swim team and tomorrow night is another 3-4 hour meet. So after the wife gets home I will be heading out with 7yo so he can go through the meet. He is not a super fast swimmer, but he has learned so much in the past few weeks. In the end he will only be a better swimmer because of it.
Soccer
3yo started soccer tonight. I was at home working while mom took him to soccer. He had a great time and a few of his friends are also involved. He needs something that he keeps moving and moving…
The 5
- Battlestar Galatica - The half way point or Mid Season Finale happened Friday. Again it was well done, but a little torn about some of the things that have happened. Still waiting for the 5th to be revealed.
- Hernia Repair Postponed, maybe - If I can hold out I think I am going to try for the fix over the holidays when the wife will be off for a couple weeks. Holidays on Pain Meds… Joy to the World…
- Sebastion - He is still with us and still doing OK. He is happy for the most part and enjoying a ton of time in his favorite spot in the back yard. I do not know how much time he has, but he will be 100% happy until then.
- Scrapped Knee - Today on the way back from letting the turtle go 7yo tripped and scrapped up his right knee pretty good. A little First Aid and care and he was better.
- Six Flags Great America - The Father IN Law gets us all Season Passes as our “Gift” for the year. We went over the weekend and 3yo actually was excited and went on 4 rides. YEAH!!! We plan on going weekly for the summer while mom is at work and then a few times at nights or the weekends with mom.

AMAM … The Hernia Repair you are thinking about postponing … I would just get it done. I have dealt with a bi-lateral inguinal hernia and let me tell you in quick detail that you really want to have it fixed before you herniate. Its not pretty. Hopefully it holds out.
Six Flags Passes …lucky you. ….
See you around the boards.
DaddyKV
Cool picture! We found a turtle in our driveway the other day on our way out. Stopped and got a box for him and took him the river about a half mile away.
As for Great America, have you ever checked out Kiddieland in Melrose Park? Lots of stuff for smaller kids, and enough that your big guy probably wouldn’t be bored.
Kiddieland is 45 miles from my house. With the 3 kids and one being so little that is not a trip I want to take. Six Flags is 16 miles away and the tickets are FREE…
Right, I keep forgetting where you live! Six Flags is a haul for us, and Kiddieland is 15 miles.
